Steve Friedman

Utilizing the encyclopedic film knowledge that earned him the nickname, "MR. MOVIE," Steve Friedman reviews films and videos each week for Philadelphia's NBC affiliate. He is also the film critic for America Online's Digital City and has his own website, where he hosts an active weekly chatroom for film buffs all over the country.

In addition, he is also the film reviewer for the Donnelly Directory's Talking Yellow Pages/ I.T. Network and can also be heard each Sunday night from 9 to midnight on WPHT 1210 AM, discussing films with callers from 38 states and Canada.

For many years, Steve was a regular member of "TIMEOUT," an award-winning magazine show for which he won an Emmy. A graduate of Penn State University, with a BA in English and Film. Steve began his career as an art director for a Philadelphia advertising agency. With his wife, Michelle, he wrote and produced the first movie review program in the country, "At the movies with Fox and Leonard," which aired in the mid-1970's with a combination of reviews and retrospective theme pieces.

In 1981, Steve became the Manager of On-Air Promotion for WCAU-TV in Philadelphia and won a number of local Emmys for the station's campaigns. In 1982, he was tapped by WCAU-AM, the station's sister radio entity, to host his own call-in program, which quickly became one of the city's most popular shows. Eventually, " The Mr. Movie Program" became the highest-rated radio show in the area, with movie lovers from all parts of the country jamming the phone lines. Steve has been a regular contributor to such publications as American Movie Classics Magazine, Video Business and Laser Views Magazine and the Philadelphia Daily News among others.
